CENTERVILLE
Charles Edward Bearse
Bearse,Charles Edward, beloved husband of Annie R, on April 1st at his home 21 Milford Place,Rockville Centre, LI NY, in his 73rd year.Services and interment at Centerville, Mass., Monday April 4th 1921-Brooklyn Daily Eagle.
It seems to the writer that more than the few lines quoted above, could well be written about Charles Edward Bearse, son of Nelson and Clorida A Bearse, born in Centerville May 19th, 1848.He passed his younger years as did most of the lads of that time in following the sea.At the age of about thirty years he entered the employ of F H Lovell and Co , New York and was associated with the firms for more than 24 years. The latter part of his business life was passed with the New York Telephone Co., and twelve years ago as the result of an injury he retired from active business life.
Mr Bearse was a man of sterling character, whose unsurpassed optimism has been an inspiration. A devoted husband and father his influence for good, manifested in his patience and his love for god and man will live long in the memory of those with whom he came in daily contact. His body was brought to Centerville and at the "Homestead" the place so dear to him.Services were conducted by Rev Sarah A Dixon of Hyannis, whose address was uplifting and whose tribute most worthy. The interment was in Beechwood Cemetery.
"A Good Man and Just, He Sleeps with his Fathers."
He is survived by his widow, Annie Woods,three children and one grandchild,also the following eleven brothers and sisters:William H, Nelson H,Frank S,Horace M,E Lewis,Chester and Percy A Bearse.Mrs O D Lovell,Mrs Clorida A Parker,Mrs. Ariadne Cornish,and Miss Laura M Bearse.
