Sharon F. Carpenter Brown, 69, of Rochester, went to be with her Lord on March 24, 2012, at 5 p.m. in Life Care Center of Rochester.

Sharon was born on Nov. 11, 1942, in Rochester, the daughter of Emmitt (Deloris Lozier) Carpenter. On Nov. 26, 1960, Sharon fell in love and married Leonard Brown. Together, they raised six children and have celebrated 51 years of marriage. Sharon collected lighthouses and loved to watch her hummingbirds.

She is survived by her husband, Emmitt; daughters, Rhonda (Bob) Hurt, of Rochester, Deirdre (Charles) Stavedahl and Denise (Fernando) Islas, of Warsaw, and Dawn (Shawn) Webb, of Goshen; sons, Todd (Samantha) Brown, of Dyer, and Michael VanEtten, of Chicago, Ill.; and a legacy of 38 grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and three great-grandchildren.

A time to gather and share memories will be held today from 3-6 p.m. at the Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home in Rochester. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Winamac Cemetery in Winamac.
