OBITUARY

ARVILLE RAYMOND SMART

Arville Raymond Smart, son of F.G. and Mabel Smart, was born March 23, 1899 in Hancock, Iowa. Ultimately he became engaged with his father in the drug business in Stafford, Kansas. On November 28, 1923 he was united in marriage with Violet Volker and they spent their entire life together in Stafford, continuing the operation of the long established Smart's Drug Store.

He retired March 1st of 1964 and shortly thereafter suffered a heart attack from which he never fully recovered.

Arville, or "Shorty" as he was most fondly called, was a strong booster of Stafford and its civic improvement. He was a member of the Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, Shrine, Rotary Club and a Veteran of World War I.

He is survived by his wife Violet, a brother Ralph Smart of Sylvia, and a sister Helen Raynesford of Hollywood, California.
