HANLONTOWN-Clarence Samuel Rye, the youngest child of Ole A. and Kjersti Methus Rye was born July 2, 1884, on the family farm in Fertile township, Worth Co., Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
On Dec. 25, 1924, he married Selma Torgeson of Hanlontown.
Following attendance at the University of Colorado and at Colorado State College, he was graduated from the University of Minnesota. He engaged in the banking business at Hanlontown until 1926, when he organized and became executive officer of the Manly State Bank. In 1939 he moved to Miami Florida, and became vice president of the Little River Bank and Trust Company until his retirement in 1955.
He died Jan.5, following an illness of about two month. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1929; five brothers, Arne, Nels, Johann, Thomas, and Henry; and one sister Johanna. He is survived by nine nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 12, at the Lutheran Church in Hanlontown, with burial at Brush Point Cemetery. The Rev. L.L. Peterson officiating.
