She is also survived by a brother, Harry DeGroot of Jacksonville; a sister, Thelma Seymour of South Jacksonville; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Lillian Gaines and Marjorie Boes.
She served as a nanny for the Chapman family in Jacksonville and later worked at J. Capps & Sons for five years. She then worked alongside her husband with the operation of Daniels Furniture and Delivery Service for over 56 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, United Commercial Travelers, and the NEED Committee. Always community minded, Kay was quick to lend a helping hand when needed and was a faithful partner and advisor during her husband's aldermanic duties over the years. She was especially supportive of all family activities and enjoyed spending time with her nieces, nephews and beloved cats.
Services were entrusted to Buchanan and Cody Funeral Home of Jacksonville, Illinois.
