Josie Charlene Gunter, 73 of Midland, Texas, passed away May 17, 2006, at the Hospice Inpatient Unit at Midland Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 4, 1932 in Wink, Texas to Murdock and Lila Masters. On January 1, 1951, she married Willard I. Gunter in Lovington, New Mexico.

She was a lifetime member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary and also of the First Christian Church of Midland. She was known for her love of children and felt they were the reason she was put on earth. Her hobbies included crocheting, reading, working puzzles, and listening to music, especially Elvis Presley.

Survivors include her husband, Willard I. Gunter; a son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Charlotte Gunter of Midland, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindi and Johnny Walker of Carlsbad, New Mexico; a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Brenda Masters of Midland, Texas; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Graveside services were on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Resthaven Memorial Park with Pastor Wayman Swopes officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. The family suggested memorials be directed to Hospice of Midland.
