Vera Selima Larson, 80, of Rice Lake died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at home. She was born July 22, 1931 in Rice Lake, WI to Alfred and Selima (LaBrie) Anderson.
She was married in Pine City, MN on August 6, 1947 to Gerald "Shorty" Larson. They farmed together for many years, while raising their children. Vera worked at Comtock Cheese Factory for many years, and also worked as a home health caregiver for several years. She and Shorty divorced, and he preceded her in death on June 14, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Alice Cook, brother, Roy Anderson, and sister-in-law, Sylvia Anderson.
She is survived by: 6 sons, Paul (Diana) Larson of Ringold, OK; Joe (Linda) Larson of Cumberland; Dan (Chris) Larson of Wakonda, SD; Gerald (Sue) Larson, Jr. of Rice Lake; Jim Larson of Almena; Gene (Janelle) Larson of Cumberland; 3 daughters, Lois Benson of Fairbanks, Alaska; Sandie (Earl) Merry of Cumberland; Judy (Fred) Boettcher of Rice Lake; 27 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Ervin Anderson of California; 1 half-sister, Elaine Stary of St. Paul; brother-in-law, Jack Cook; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 2, 2012 at Skinner Funeral Home - Rice Lake with Rev. Tim Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Nora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday at the Skinner Funeral Home in Rice Lake and for 1 hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
