Herbert E. Autrey Jr., 88 of Spring, Texas died May 18, 2013.

He was born Oct. 27, 1924 in Pine Hill. He was a veteran of World War II and sailed with the Merchant Marines. Herbert and his wife, Gloria were the founders of the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church in Pine Hill. After retirement they moved to Texas to be near their daughter. Even in retirement he lived each day to is fullest, volunteering as a faithful member of Generations Church, working in his garden, cheering on his Atlanta Braves and fellowshipping with all of his new found friends in Texas.

Survivors include his daughter, Monica Z. Hale and son-in-law, Albert Clyde Hale, a grandson, Scott Brady Hale and his wife, Melissa Hale; two great-grandsons, Julius Hale, Mason Hale; two sisters, Iona A. Pearson, Marjoria Calloway.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Autrey, his parents, Herbert E. Autrey Sr., Zina Proctor Autrey; three sisters, Elsie Kent, Kathleen Pearson and Mabel McGilberry.

The service was May 22 at 1 p.m. at the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church in Pine Hill with Revs. Pastor Truman Todd, Albert Kale and Associate Pastor, Scott Hale officiating. Burial was in the Pine Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Wayne Pearson, Johnny McGilberry, Lynn Baugh, Doanld Morgan, Joe Faile and Joey Vandee.
