L.O. Sanderson called to his eternal rest. Passed peacefully away at about 8:30 Sunday morning at his home in Fertile.
L.O. Sanderson was born in Hallingdal, Norway,November 23, 1838, and died at his home, Dec. 19, at the age of 77. Together with his parents he emigrated to America when he was nine years old. They settled in Koshkonog, Wis., where they lived a short time, andfrom there they moved to Springdale, where he grew to manhood. He removed to Moscow Iowa County, Wisconsin where he lived until 1876, when he moved to Fertile Iowa, where he has lived ever since. He was married to Sarah Svensrud in the year of 1862 and to this union was 11 children born, one died in infancy.
Besides his wife and children he is survived by two sister, Mrs. Ole Paulson and Mrs. Halvor Johnson, also a host of other relatives.
When he was 17 years old he started to teach school and taught continually for 20 years. He has held offices of trust in school matters and township affairs.
May the memory of a good man be an inspiration to good for the present younger generation!
Rev. Hjelmeland had charge of the funeral, which was held Wednesday afternoon and largly attended. Interment was Brush Point Cemetery.
