August Guenther, Route 1, Ogdensburg, passed away Jan. 10 at Riverside Hospital, Waupaca. He was born Feb. 26, 1890 in Russia, the son of Christoph Guenther and Wilhelmina nee Lueck. He was baptized April 2, 1890 in Russia and confirmed September 22, 1907 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Parsonage, Manawa by the Pastor Geo. C. Schroeder.
He was married to Hilda Wollenberg on Nov. 10, 1915 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Manawa by the Rev. R.A. Karpinsky. One year after their marriage they moved to New London and resided there for three years. They later moved to a farm near Sugar Bush and lived there until May 1926, when they moved to a farm near Manawa. In 1931 they again moved to a farm in the town of St. Lawrence which was his home for 31 years. In July 1962, he moved to Manawa.
He is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Richard (Lillian) Cartwright, New London; Mrs. Orin (Erna) Stevenson, Bear Creek: Mrs. Joseph (Louise) Chung, La Grange, IlI; four sons, Earl, Town of Royalton; Leonard, Town of St. Lawrence; Carl, San Jose, California and Lloyd of Manitowoc; two brothers, William of Milwaukee and Richard, Town of Little Wolf; one sister, Mrs. Hulda Ferg, Long Beach, California."
