DEATH OF MRS. BASSMANN
Last Friday evening at the family home in this city Mrs. W.H. Bassmann passed from this life to the beyond. She had suffered more or less from consumption for 3 years, and for the past year had been an invalid and death came as a sweet relief to her sufferings.
Deceased's maiden name was Carrie S. Bonny; was born at Waterloo, Indiana August 9, 1866; died March 3, 1899 her age therefore being 32 years 6 months 24 days. She was joined in marriage to W.H. Bassmann at Pender, January 2, 1893 and 2 sons and 1 girl have been born to them; the little girl being the only child that is now living. The popularity of the deceased and her husband was well expressed by a crowded house of neighbors and friends who assembled at the ME church, Monday to attend the funeral and pay the last tribute of respect and honor to her. Rev. Shafer conducted the service in an impressive manner and many beautiful floral decorations adorned the casket-one being a beautiful design ordered by the W of W and MWA of which orders Mr. Bassmann is a leading member.
Mrs. Bassmann was a kind mother, a great helpmate for her husband and neighbor of the highest type and a friend to all. Her husband, little daughter, mother, sister and other surviving relatives have the sincerest sympathy of all in their hour of affliction.
