Lillian P. Sterling, 93, of McAlester, a resident of a local nursing home, died in that home Monday. She was born in Scott County, Arkansas on Nov. 19, 1887. She had lived in North McAlester for six decades. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Second Baptist Church, with Dr. Dan Day, assisted by Rev. Van Warren, officiating. Burial will be in North McAlester cemetery under the direction of the Mills Funeral Home. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Sterling was active in the Second Baptist Church for years. She was superintendent of the junior department, president of the W.M.U. and taught several Sunday school classes. Survivors include her two daughters, Ms. Fern Stewart and Mrs. Darwin (Faye) Nowles, both of McAlester; two sons, Charles J. Sterling of Chicago, and Dr. Robert R. Sterling of Connecticut; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
