Our Loving Mother, Wife, NeNe, Sister, Aunt and Friend returned to the loving arms of Our Heavenly Father on March 29, 2012 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. We are so grateful to have such a great example of love, compassion, patience and faith that she was to us.
Annie "Joyce" Morrison was born on December 25, 1938 - the oldest child of Albert and Rosa Christensen in American Falls, Idaho. Twin sisters joined the family four years later. The family moved to Riverside, Idaho and Joyce helped her father on the farm and excelled in school. She graduated from Snake River High School and went to Ricks College and received her teaching certificate. She taught in Blackfoot, Idaho for two years and then went to Idaho State University and received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She taught in the Pocatello District for over 27 years - 24 years at Lewis and Clark Elementary. She taught 4th grade in room 10 for her entire career at Lewis and Clark. She was a dedicated teacher and loved reading. She was active in PEA and Reading Association.
She married Joseph Lowell Morrison on September 20, 1961 in Blackfoot, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They had three children and raised them on their farm in Tyhee, Idaho. She was a true example of compassion and faith. Joyce was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She held many callings in the Primary and Relief Society organizations. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Joyce and Joe sold their farm in 2010 and moved to West Valley, Utah to be closer to their children.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years Joe; children Jeff Morrison (Chris), Austin, TX, Jana Kay Morrison , West Valley City, UT and James Morrison (Heidi), West Valley City, UT; granddaughter Hadlee who was the light of her NeNe's life, and the ones she adopted as her granddaughters Cassidy Striffler, Mckenna Price, India Morrison and Paige Henderson whom she loved spending time with, going to plays and school events; sisters Ida Nelson, Meridian, ID and Iva Butler (LaVon), Littlefield, AZ.; brothers-in-law Lynn Morrison (Joan) McCammon, ID, Dan Morrison (Barbara ) Inkom, ID; sisters-in-law Lola Morrison, Brigham City, UT, Valoy Morrison, St. George, UT, Barbara Morrison, Downey, ID, Lorraine Morrison, Inkom, ID, ; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws Boge Morrison, Jennie Morrison, Lila Morrison and brothers-in-law Roland Nelson, Paul Morrison, Drew Morrison, Clayton Morrison and Phillip Morrison.
The family would like to thank Curo Hospice, especially Jennine, Miriam, and Dr. Greg Miller for the amazing care they gave Joyce, and for Lisa Gravatt who lovingly cared for her the last few days of her mortal life.
