Dale M. Swihart, 63, of 5766 Wilson Terrace, Sebring, Florida, formerly of Elkhart, died at 5 p.m. Saturday in a Sturgis, Michigan hospital, apparently of a heart attack, shortly after being taken to the hospital.
He was born March 22, 1919, in Silver Lake. He married Laura M. Mansfield, August 24, 1937 in Elkhart. She survives with two sons, Dale W., Goshen, and Gregory A., Elkhart; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Janice) Lawrence, Constantine, and Mrs. James (Nikki) Ganger, Elkhart; 10 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Eva Groff, Colon, Michigan, and Mrs. Bernice Heitger, Sturgis; and a twin brother, Gale W., Sturgis, one sister, Frances Aller, preceded him in death in June.
Friends will be received after 2 p.m. Tuesday and until the hour of services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Wally-Mills-Zimmerman funeral home. The Reverend C. S. Priest, a retired minister, will officiate. Entombment will be in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum, Rice Cemetery.
Mr. Swihart was a former owner of Swihart's 66 service station, retiring in 1977 because of ill health.
He was a member of Spring Lake Presbyterian Church, Sebring, a World War II Army veteran and member of VFW Post 88. He had moved to Florida from Elkhart in 1977.
