Sylvin Newton Boyette
Sylvin Newton Boyette, 84, of 824 N. Sixth Ave., Laurel, died Wednesday at Laurel General Hospital unexpectedly.
Graveside rites were held Thursday, July 14 at 4:00 p.m. from Hickory Grove Cemetery. Dr. Larry Kennedy and the Rev. John Ash officiated.
Mr. Boyette was a native of Sallis. He was a retired building manager at Laurel’s Civic Center. He was an Army veteran of World War I and World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Laurel where he was an honorary life Deacon. He was a mason and a member of the Castalian Masonic Lodge in Durant. He was a Master Mason and a member of the Nobles of the Mastic Shrine.
Mr. Boyette is survived by his wife, Virginia Boyette of Laurel: one cousin, Hilda Hunter of Mobile, Alabama and a host of other relatives.
Serving as active pallbearers were Charlie Brown, R.G. Patterson, John Drennan, Sam Lindsey, Isaiah Gatlin, Graves Butler, Dillard Bond and Sam Lindsey III.
The family requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Laurel. Memory Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
