Barbara was born and raised in West Des Moines, where she graduated from Valley High School. She lived and worked in Des Moines most of her life and retired from the Iowa Development Commission. She had a beautiful voice and sang in the All State Chorus in High School, as well as the choir at her Church.
Barbara enjoyed ceramics, needlepoint and bowling in her earlier years and was a fair partners pinochle player. She was a good cook and loved family and friends coming together.
Barbara is survived by her children, Jack Jr. (Connie), Jim, Larry, Phil (Danielle) and her daughter Lynn; also her brother, George Jensen (Dorothy); seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Baker Sr.; parents, James and Dagmar Jensen; brothers, Niels (Pete) and James and sisters, Marie and Esther.
She was so loved and will truly be missed. She is always in our hearts.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at McLaren's Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at McLaren's Chapel with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
