BOYDEN, Robert Leroy

Born Jan. 15, 1924 in Lincoln, CA, a descendent of pioneer settlers in the Sheridan and Lincoln areas (Boyden, Hinman & Luce). Bob passed away in his home on Oct 2nd, 2004 in Lincoln, CA at the age of 80 years 8 months. He was a life long resident of Lincoln.

He is preceded in death by four sisters, a brother, and his beloved wife, Margaret Dora (Marschall) Boyden. Loving father to Linda Boyden of Woodland, Karen Crum (husband Chris) of Sacramento and Dennis Boyden (wife Terry) of NV. Grandfather to Matt Crum (wife Michelle) of Beale AFB, CA, Brian Crum of Sacramento, and Joshua and Melissa (Missy) Boyden of NV. Great-grandfather to Megan and Matthew Crum of Beale AFB, CA. He is also survived by his sister Ruth Knight of Sacramento, as well as three generations of nieces and nephews.

Bob graduated from Lincoln High School in 1942 and joined the Navy in March 1943. He served as a ship-fitter on the USS Bronx during WWII and was very proud of his Navy service. He was a custodian/ handyman for Glen Edwards Middle School for over 30 years, and for many years he was a volunteer fireman before Lincoln had an official fire department. After retiring in 1989, Bob kept busy mowing lawns for local families and tinkering around the house.

He was a member of the Lincoln United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post 264 and a past member of the VFW and SIRS.

Lassila's Lincoln Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Services will be held on Oct 12, 2004 at 1:00PM at the Lincoln United Methodist Church, 629 I Street in Lincoln. He will be laid to rest in the Boyden family plot in the Lincoln Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the U. S. Navy Memorial Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
