James Douglas "Doug" Brown passed away in LaPorte on Wednesday March 28, 2012.
Doug was born in La Porte, IN on November 22, 1951 to John and Ruth (Hartz) Brown.
He was a graduate of La Porte High School (1970) and Purdue North Central (AA degree).
Doug was employed by Frontier Communications and was involved in the Big Brother organization.
He loved to travel and had visited all seven continents. Doug was an avid Chicago White Sox fan and will always be remembered for his quick wit and his sense of humor.
He was confirmed at First United Methodist Church in La Porte. Preceding him in death were his father, John Brown; sister, Susan Joyce Brown; maternal grandparents, Rev. George and Julia Hartz; and paternal grandparents, Coy and Ada Brown.
Survivors include his mother, Ruth Brown of New Port Richey, FL; his sister Linda Moore of Henning, MN, nieces Elizabeth (Lucas) Bakken of Pelican Rapids, MN, and Meghan Moore of Brooklyn, NY, and a nephew, Micheal "Coy" (Kim) of St. Paul Minnesota, two great nieces and one great nephew. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous life long friends.
A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 7th at First United Methodist Church Chapel in LaPorte, IN. There will be a time of visitation with the family at 10AM until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church in LaPorte or the charity of the donor's choice.
