From the Winona Republican-Herald dated Monday, November 17, 1947:

HEART ATTACK CAUSES DEATH OF GEORGE DAVIS

George W. Davis, 63, 659 Grand Street, died at 11 a.m. today from a heart attack suffered while working on his automobile on West Fifth Street near the Schuler Ice Cream factory.

He was taken to the Winona General Hospital by ambulance, but was dead on arrival.

He also suffered a skull fracture which County Coroner Dr. R. B. Tweedy reported was caused when he fell and hit the automobile following the heart attack.

Mr. Davis and his family moved here from Pickwick, Minn., where he was a farmer, in November, 1944. He had been working at the College of Saint Teresa as a yard man. He was born in Pickwick, Minn. on January 13, 1883.

Survivors include his wife and daughter, Irene, 659 Grand Street; a daughter, Mrs. Omer (Dorothy) Harem, Pickwick; a son, Wilfred, 607 Wilson Street; a brother, Clarence, Pickwick; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2:15 p.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Pickwick, the Rev. W. J. Koepsell officiating. Preliminary services will be at the Breitlow Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Pickwick Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
