Elizabeth "Betty" Tinder Burton, 77, of Orange, died on Sunday, April 1, 2012, at her residence. She was born on August 16, 1934, in Orange County, the daughter of the late George Eldridge and Hettie Cooper Tinder. Mrs. Burton was also preceded in death by her husband, Cyril Daniel Burton; and a brother, George Kenneth Tinder. She was a member of the Orange Baptist Church and retired from Verizon. Betty is survived by two daughters, Jane Porter Burton of Orange, Lynda Carol Burton Shifflett and husband, Ricky, of Ruckersville; a sister, Irene "Fritz" Altman of Orange; two grandchildren, William Daniel Shifflett and Parker Evan Shifflett, both of Ruckersville; also many special nieces and nephews.
