LaVerne L. Schulenburg, age 90, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Meriter Hospital. He was born on Aug. 20, 1921, in Middleton, son of Henry and Elsa (Thielke) Schulenburg.
LaVerne went to Middleton High School and attended Madison Business College. He served his country in World War II from 1942 until 1946. He then went to work for the Dane County Highway Department, often going by the nicknames of "Shimmel" and "Whitey." LaVerne married Louise (Richardt) D'Amour on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2001 in Monona. He was an avid Badgers, Packers and basketball fan.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beatrice; his parents; and sister-in-law, Helen Schulenburg.
Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens
