James "Jim" H. Aarons, of Vinton, Louisiana passed away in the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Born in Louisiana, to Pete and Viva Aarons, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vinton where he taught Sunday School. He was a 1965 graduate of Vidalia High School.

After graduation, he attended Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, Louisiana where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1971. While attending Northeast Louisiana University, he received an Athletic Scholarship and played on the defensive line and was selected to the All-Conference team. He received his Master of Education in 1975 at Northeast Louisiana University and an additional Post Graduate Degree in 1986 from Lamar University. His 30 years teaching, and coaching career included Louisiana and Texas Schools; serving 20 years at Bridge City High School, retiring as principal in 2001. He taught Social Studies and was a coach at the Vinton High School from 2001-2002 and was currently the Assistant Principal at Vinton Middle School.

His professional memberships included the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals, National Association of Secondary School Principals, Association of Secondary Curriculum and Development and Parent Teacher Association.

Survivors include his wife, Rosetta Wilson Aarons; his mother, Viva Aarons; four daughters, Marley Aarons, Mrs. Shane (Tammy) Droddy, Mrs. Corey (Jamie) Gauthier, and Mrs. Drew (Jessica) Merritt; two sisters, Mrs. Edwin (JoAnn) Beach and Judy Aarons; one brother and his wife, Douglas and Vivian Aarons; and five grandchildren, Richie Droddy, Dalton Droddy, Jacie Droddy, Kylee Droddy, and Caleb Merritt.

He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Aarons and a sister, Dessa Johnson.
