Services for Mrs. Melvine Pickett Kinder will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria with Dr. B. David Brooks and Reverend David Boothe officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family requests that visitation be observed Friday at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until service time.

Mrs. Kinder, 86, of Alexandria passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Rapides Regional Medical Center.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a former member of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Eliza Gilchrist Pickett; brother, Albert Pickett and sisters, Alma LaBauve and Catherine Alford.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 65 years, M. V. Kinder, Jr. of Alexandria; sons, John Van Kinder and wife, Gayle of Alexandria, R. Bruce Kinder and wife, Carol of Alexandria; daughter, Barbara Kinder Bankson and husband, Bobby of Friendswood, Texas; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Clay Bankson, Jeff Bankson, Steve Kinder, Marty Kinder, Ryan Kinder and R. Bruce Kinder.

Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation, 8200 Hampson, New Orleans, LA 70118.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to her care givers, Miss. Elaine, Miss Dean and Miss Betty.
