Tolliver was the 2nd s/o James Newport Ellis and Lillie Mae Stephens Ellis. He was only 4 when his Father died.
At age 16, he wanted to join the navy..and as he told me, he used his older brother's birthdate to join. He retired after a career in the Navy and moved back to Dalton, GA.
What I remember best is those Sunday afternoons in the 1950s when we dragged out our cigar box of pennies and learn to play poker. The kids and adults all played poker after making ice cream in the old fashion freezer with the handle.
