Born November 24, 1897, in Walterboro, S.C., he was the son of Charles F. and Eva J. (Gantt) Adams. He was married three times. First to Adeline Reed Adams, then Francis Adams, and Alice McLeod on February 14, 1936. She survives at home.
Also surviving is a daughter, Edith Jackson of Pittsburgh, an adopted daughter, Della Adams of Mount Union, three sisters: Ophelia Murray and Corrine Hamilton, both of Woodbine, N.J. and Reo Jenkins of Cherry Hill, N.J., five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Adams, and seven brothers and sisters.
Mr. Adams was a member of the Tabernacle Church of God In Christ, Mount Union. In 1963, he retired after 45 years of service from Harbison-Walker. He also and worked in an auto manufacturing plant in Detroit.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 1993 at the Tabernacle Church of God in Christ with the Rev. Benjamin Ravenel officiating. Interment will be in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg.
Friends may call at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, on Monday from 7-9 p.m., and at the church on Tuesday after 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
