Rev. Walter came to the USA (from Germany) where he attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa and received his bachelors degree in 1914. He continued his education at Dubuque Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa and graduated with a masters in divinity in 1915. He served as minister at Wheatland Presbyterian Church, Breda, Iowa from 1915 to 1941. He retired and came to Hastings in 1941.
Survivors are his wife, Louise R. Fricke Walter; five daughters, Louise C. Walter of Hastings, Nebr., Mrs. Henry (Dorothy) Christensen of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mrs. Kenneth (Ruth) Meyer of Morton, Ill., Mrs. Anthony (Gladys) McManaman of Chico, Calif., Mrs. Rod (Eunice) Thompson of Honolulu, Hawaii; a son, Dr. James (Grace) Walter of Ames, Iowa; and seven grandchildren, Ruth E Meyer, Patty and Helen McManaman, James and Charles Walter, Timothy and Vicky Thompson.
Services were at the Butler-Volland Funeral Home. Burial in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebr.
