The funeral for Benjamin A. Traxler was held Monday, March 8 at St. Mary's Catholic church Here. Rev. George Freeman officiated. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ben Macho, Robert White, Tommy Traxler, Steve Tambornino, Denis Boettcher and George Sullivan. Mr. Traxler died on Friday, March 5, at the Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, where he had been a patient for the past two weeks. He had reached the age of 80 years. He was born June 3, 1901 in Le Center to John and Mary Doktor Traxler. He attended rural school and also St. Mary's Parochial School. He was a lifelong resident of this area. On August 13, 1930 he married Alice Farrell in Marysburg. They farmed in rural Le Center. She preceded him in death in 1941. Ben was a devout member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5085 and was also a member of various cattlemen's associations. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Nan) Olinger of Mankato; two sons, Jerry of Belle Plaine and Norbert of Prior Lake; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and two sisters, Sister M. Remegia of Good Council Academy, and Mrs. Gertrude Kainz of Holcomb Wis. Besides his wife he was also preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers and three half sisters and two half brothers.
