Born August 24, 1912, he was a life-time resident of Collin County, the son of John and Lydia (Welborn) Smith. He married Effie Viola Gibson 25 August 1933.
Surviving are his wife of the home Viola; three sons Elmer James; Herbert and Jerry Smith all of McKinney; four daughters Bobby Tiller of Garland; Virginia Starnes and Wanda Patterson of Denton and Jacqueline Smith of McKinney. In addition he is survived by sisters Ola Bryant and Gladys Recer of Princeton, two brothers Jimmy D Smith of Oklahoma and Willard L Smith of Garland.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Lydia Smith.
Funeral Services are 2 pm Thursday in the Culleoka Baptist Church, Revs J.D. Craft and Bill Herod of Dallas will be officiating with the Burial in Wilson Chapel Cemetery. Turrentine-Jackson Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
