Daughter of Elijah Haught and Anna Weaver;

Mary Catharine Haught had at least seven children, at least as far as can be documented, by at least three different men. It is very probable that all of these children were illegitimate, as NO marriage records could be found (over a five year search) for Mary Catharine to any of her childrens' documented fathers.

William Sample and Mary Catharine Haught were the biological parents of Joseph Franklin Siepple (also found as "Sample") who was born on August 16, 1867 in Ludlow Township, Washington County, Ohio. Joseph died on 05 Aug 1936 in Independence Township, Washington County, Ohio and he is buried at Knob Cemetery. Joseph retained a variation of his father's surname.

Joseph's father, William Sample, was married at this time to Elizabeth Mullinex Sample. Elizabeth and William stayed married until his death on October 28, 1867. Elizabeth had just given birth to Joseph Franklin Sample's half-sister in March of 1867. Mary Catharine's son, Joseph, was only a few months old when his father died. William Sample, it seems, was quite a busy man in the township of Ludlow during the year preceding his death!

Samuel Haught and Mary Catharine Haught had the following children (per their sons' death certificates):

1. Albert Richard Haught was born on December 20, 1872 in Ludlow Township, Washington County, Ohio. He died on March 2, 1939 in Paden City, Wetzel County, West Virginia.

2. Issac Newton Haught was born on November 20, 1877 in Ludlow Township, Washington County, Ohio. He died on August 23, 1962 in Marietta Township, Washington County, Ohio.

3. Samuel O. Haught was born on April 14, 1893 in Wingett Run Township, Washington Couty, Ohio. He died on September September 12, 1961 in Marietta Township, Washington County, Ohio. He is buried at Lawrence Baptist Cemetery in Lawrence Township, Washington County, Ohio, with his Wife Lora E. Decker Haught.

Mary Catharine also had the following children. The names of the father/s cannot be accounted for as the birth records and census records list only her name and not the name of a father/fathers.

1. CAROLINE HAUGHT was born on 08 Aug 1881 in Ludlow Township, Washington County, Ohio.

2. MINNIE A. HAUGHT was born on July 10, 1884 in Washington County, Ohio. She died on October 10, 1948 in Columbus Township, Franklin County, Ohio at Mount Carmel Hospital. She married OLIVER OSTEN WEST on September 21, 1899 in Saint Mary's Township, Pleasant County, West Virginia, son of Ezra West and Melissa White. He was born on March 21, 1874 in Bethel Township, Monroe County, Ohio. He died on July 7, 1951 in Parkersburg Township, Wood County, West Virginia at Saint Joseph Hospital.

3. LAURA V. HAUGHT was born in July of 1886. She died on
December 7, 1963 in Jefferson County, Ohio. She married WILLIAM NORMAN SKINNER on May 17, 1902 in Washington County, Ohio, son of George Skinner and Margaret McClead. He was born in January of 1881 in Independence Township, Washington County, Ohio. He died on 27 Jun 1969 in East Liverpool Township, Columbia County, Ohio.

Additionally, Mary Catharine may be the biological mother of LUCINDA HAUGHT. She is listed on the 1880's U.S. Census living with her grandparents (Elijah and Annie Weaver Haught), but it can not be determined whether Mary Catharine is her mother or not.
