Carroll H. Abbey, 79, of the 3000 block of RoblangCourt died of a heart ailment Tuesday at USA Healthcare Center in Urbandale. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, of which he was a member. Private burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
Mr. Abbey was born in Creston and moved to Des Moines 50 years ago from Perry. He retired in 1998 from Abbey Insurance Agency, of which he was founder and past president. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of Home Masonic Lodge, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine and Des Moines Toastmasters.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; two sons, Duane of Ames and Nathan of Des Moines; a daughter, Lisa Bell of Des Moines; a sister, Regina Larson of Atlantic; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at Dunn's Funeral Home where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
