Jacob Birkenbine
Jacob H. Birkenbine, former owner and operator of La Penn, a Lititz machine tool company, died Friday morning at his residence. He was 79 and resided at 123 West End Ave., Lititz.
A member of Zion Lutheran Church, Manheim, Birkenbine was also a 33rd degree Mason. He was a member of Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 687, Manheim, serving as post master in that lodge. He was a member of Lancaster Lodge of Perfection; and served as past most wise master, director and degree worker in Reading Consistory.
Additionally he was past president and treasurer of Lancaster County Club of Reading Consistory; and a member of Zembo Shrine, Harrisburg; Lancaster County Shrine Club; a life member in both National Rifle Association and Canadian Civilian Association of Marksmen; Northern Lancaster County Rifle Club; Lititz Sportsmen Association; and a champion marksman in Pennsylvania Small Bore Rifle Association.
He was the husband of Anna Koch Birkenbine. Born in Rothsville, he was a son of the late Grant and Kate Hemling Birkenbine.
Surviving in addition to his widow are three sisters: Elva B. Long, Lititz; Marguerite B. Senior, and Kathryn B., wife of James H. Crowther, both of Ephrata.
