Caroline Sabitus, 83, went to be with the Lord, Saturday evening, January 7, 2006 at the James G. Johnston Nursing Facility, Johnson City. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Sabitus; four brothers and five sisters. She was born in Old Forge, Pa., the daughter of the late John and Matilda Abplanalp. She is survived by her daughter, Robin Wahl, Spokane, Wash.; daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Mark Wright, Chenango Bridge; grandchildren, Michael Saunders, Coventry, R.I. and Emily Saunders, Arlington, Va.; sister, Sarah Legg, Vestal; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Marlene Sabitus, Endwell; sister-in-law, Lucille Sabitus, Avoca, Pa.; and brother-in-law, Robert Novak, Endwell; as well as several nieces and nephews. Caroline enjoyed her years of volunteering at Binghamton General Hospital and at Hospice of Naples, Fla. She especially enjoyed visits by family and friends from up North. Caroline was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and touched the lives of many people. She will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 12, 2006 at 12 p.m. at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 300 East Main St., Endicott. The Rev. Lea Harding, Chaplain at the James G. Johnston Nursing Facility, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Friends are invited to call Thursday, from 11 a.m. until service time at 12 noon at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the staff at Hilltop Retirement Center and the James G. Johnston Nursing Facility for the wonderful care Caroline received during her stay there. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the charity of ones choice.
