STORY WRITER DIES AT 83

HERKIMER - Mrs. Mary E. Q. Brush, 83, a well known author and mother of the Republican County Chairman, Donald L. Brush, died Sunday at her home on Graham St., after more than a year's illness.
Mrs. Brush wrote six children's books, the better known were " The coming of Caroline " and " Island Patty ", she also contributed numerous children's stories to magazines.

She was born in Herkimer on March 10, 1857, a daughter of Isaac and Mary Ann Rasbach Quackenbush, and spend almost all her life here. She attended Herkimer schools and graduated from the old Madame Platt's Academy, Utica.
