Alphea Mae Whitmore, 73, died Friday, June 10th at Teton Hospital in Driggs from kidney failure.

She was born April 24th, 1921 in St. Anthony to Alfred James and Elizabeth Maud Bird. She was raised in the Teton Valley and later returned to St. Anthony were she graduated from St. Anthony High School.

She served in the Marine Corps during WWII where she read the rank of Corporal. She married Edward "Bud" whitmore of Ashton in 1946.

She moved to Ashton and lived here for over 48 years. During that time was a receptionist-secretary for Fall River Electric for 18 years.

She enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren, quilting, crocheting oil paiting and reading.

She leaves five children, David Whitmore, Danny Whitmore and Albert Whitmore, Toni Merrill and Jenny Kirkham; 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two children and her husband.

Burial was in Pineview Cemetery under the direction of wade Funeral Home. Military honors were presented by post 89 of the American Legion. LDS Bishop Dale Cordingley officiated at the services.
