E. H. Bachman Was Buried Yesterday

E. H. Bachman, who died last Saturday at 5 p.m. at his home on Horse Creek, near Kingsport, was buried yesterday afternoon at the family burial grounds on the lower Backman place, three miles from Kingsport.

The funeral services, which were held at the home at noon yesterday, were conducted by Rev. S. B. Ogle of the First Baptist church of this city. Rev. Mr. Ogle spoke of the usefulness of a true Christian life. The Baptist quartet sang very beautifully during the ceremony. The floral offerings were many and very beautiful, and many friends of the deceased were present from throughout East Tennessee.

The pallbearers were I. M. Fuller, J. B. Nall, J. W. Harrison, W. H. Mills, S. N. Haws, Ralph Worley, J. W. Houtz and W. B. Miller.

Mr. Bachman was a well known banker, farmer and land owner of Sullivan county. If he had lived until next Wednesday he would have been 74 years of age.

Mr. Bachman was stricken with an attack of bronchial pneumonia several days ago. His death was momentarily expected for several days. Saturday morning, however, he appeared to be getting better and the physicians attending him held out hopes for his recovery.

He laughed and joked and told those at his bedside that "they had expected him to die, but he had fooled them." A relapse came at about 3 o'clock and death resulted at 5 p.m.

Mr. Bachman was born and reared in the house in which he died. The house is 125 years old and stands on Horse Creek.
