Myrle was born in Monroe County Bloomington July 5 1903 the daughter of John J. Lawrence Jr and Sarah Jane (Ratliff) Lawrence. Her father died when she was only 8 years old. She married Oscar Allison Scurlock and to this union were born 8 children 4 boys and 4 girls. Myrle enjoyed cooking and being with her family and her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing religious songs on the piano. Myrle died of pancreatic cancer in May of 1965 at the age of 61.
