World War II Soldier. Korean War Soldier. Teacher. Colonel Augustyn, U.S. Army (retired), served as a commander with the Allied Forces in Europe during WWII and retired after a long distinguished career both in active duty and the reserves. He was one of 9 siblings; he worked in the coal mines. He played football and earned a bachelors degree in physics at West Chester State University. Before entering the Army, he was a teacher. He worked on military defense contracts in the Philadelphia area, and retired from the military in 1973 as Commanding Officer of the 802nd Reserve Unit in Philaadelphia. Augustyn worked at the AEGIS Defense System in New Jersey until 1982.
