John J. Hayka, 77 of 407 Park, died at 12:45 p.m. Monday (Nov. 27) at Alpena Hospital where he was admitted at 10:25 a.m.

Born July 7, 1890 in Alpena, he was employed as a molder at the Besser Company for 10 years before going to the Habitant Shop, where he worked another 10 years, retiring in 1956.

He was a member of St. Anne Church, where he married Josephine Beland on August 23, 1915 before the Rev. Charles DeQuoy. The couple observed their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1965. She Survives, as do four children, Mrs. Alfred Arnold (Florence) and Robert of Herron, Mrs. Dudley Cook (Delima) of Warren and John of Nashville, Tenn., - 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Panowicz and Mrs. Arthur Mantz of Alpena and Mrs. Clara Walle of Alpena. Another daughter, Mrs. Alton Strassburg (Genevieve) died in 1965.

The funeral will be at 11 Thursday at St. Anne Church. The Very Rev. Robert Pelletier will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Timreck, Leonard Wieschowski, William Beland, Clifford Clearwood, Patrick St. Onge and Alex Markowski.
