Alexander Gibb Gray, under the care of Community Hospice of N.E. Florida, passed away at the Bailey Family Center for Caring on April 9, 2012. He was a centenarian, having turned 100 in December, 2011. Alexander was born in Ludlow, MA and was a longtime resident of Springfield, and then Wilbraham MA, where he raised his family and worked as a machinist. In 1976 Alexander and his late wife Doris retired to Jacksonville. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed reading. Alex loved his family and will be fondly remembered as a wonderful dad with a great sense of humor. He is survived by 2 daughters, Marilyn Gray of Jacksonville and Mary (Barry) Dunham of St. Augustine; son, Morrison Gray (Sandy) of Hampden, MA; 5 grandchildren, Holly (Dunham) Shippy, Tracy (Dunham) Gallagher, Barry Dunham Jr., Derek Gray and Carrie (Gray) Joseph, plus 13 great-grandchildren. His wife of 46 years Doris and his son Alec preceded him in death. A graveside internment will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Springfield, MA. at a time to be announced later. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to Community Hospice of N.E. Florida would be appreciated. Craig Funeral Home crematory and memorial park is in charge of the arrangements.
