She was the daughter of John Berry and Mae Hensen. A homemaker, she graduated from Overbrook High School and Pierce Business School, both in Philadelphia. Dorothy was a member of Marple Presbyterian Church in Broomall, where she had served as a deacon and taught Sunday school. She served two terms as president of the Marple Township Women's Club, and was a member of the Delaware Valley Chapter Order of The Eastern Star for 59 years. Dorothy volunteered at the Delaware County Memorial Hospital, the Broomall Presbyterian Home and Broomall Meals on Wheels.
