We always thought his name was William W. Fountain because that is what he went by. His birth record, his mother's obituary and his brother George's death record all identify his legal name as Whitley William Fountain. The name Whitley comes from his mother's brother (Whitley Windover) who was a twin with Wesley Windover.

We don't think he ever knew he had a half-sister.
