Rev. Frederick James Beardsley died on February 2, 2006. He was the only child of Frederick and Helen Beardsley.

He leaves behind his beloved four legged companion, Felicity.

Fr. Beardsley was born in Baltimore, Md. and was a graduate of St. John's College, Annapolis. He was ordained a Catholic Priest in the Diocese of Richmond on May 3, 1960. He served at St. Bede, St. Bridget, St. Paul and Sacred Heart until his retirement in 1977.

Later he assisted with Mass at Fort Lee and St. Kim Taegon. He served on the Board of Richmond Community Action Program for decades including a term as President from 1977 to 1979. Prolific author of books, poems, and manuscripts to be given to St. John's College for publication, he was a lover of nature, music and books.

He was an active Boy Scouts leader and belonged to the Audubon Society, Richmond Chapter of Sacred Harp Singing, Colonial Dancing Society and National Folklore Society.
