Spouse Sandra Austin 11 Oct 1938James W. "Jimmy" Austin, 73, passed away, unexpectedly, from complications of heart disease, at his residence in Kill Devil Hills on Friday morning, October 1, 2010.

A native of Dare County, Jimmy was born in Hatteras, NC to the late James W. Austin and the late Florence Ballance Austin.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his son, James Eugene Austin, a brother, Richard "Dickie" Austin, and a sister, Amanda Scarborough.

Mr. Austin was a commercial fisherman, a charter member of the Nags Head Fire Department, and the owner of Austin Fish Company in Nags Head. He will be remembered as a great husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sandra Hughes Austin, of the Kill Devil Hills residence.

In addition to his wife, Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Debbie Austin of Nags Head, granddaughter, Tiffany Simpson and husband, Zeke of Wanchese, and great-granddaughter Elly Simpson, also of Wanchese, NC.

The funeral will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Twiford Funeral Home in Manteo with the Rev. David J. Daniels officiating. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 7:00 – 8:30, also at Twiford Funeral Home in Manteo. At other times, the family will receive friends at their Copley Drive residence in Kill Devil Hills, NC. Twiford Funeral Homes' Colony Chapel, Manteo, NC is assisting the family with arrangements.
