The Oklahoman, Friday, Feb 26, 1971:
Services for Lt Robert M. Eagleton, 26, Anson, TX, formerly of Oklahoma City, will be at 2 pm Friday at the First Presbyterian Church here with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery directed by Hahn-Cook, Street & Draper Funeral Home. He was killed Friday in a helicopter accident in Schwaebisch Hall, Germany, where he was stationed. Eagleton was born in Tulsa and came to Oklahoma City as a child. He had been in the US Army nine years and was a helicopter pilot with the 4th Aviation Co of the 7th Army. He had served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He had been awarded two Bronze Stars, 14 Air Medals, a Good Conduct Medal, the Purple Heart with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal with V for valor. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Vela; son, Ronnie; and a daughter, Linda, both of the home; his parents, Mr and Mrs James Eagleton, 2348 NW 58; and a sister, Mrs Don R Nicholson, Norman. Memorials may be made to Hemotology Section, Dept of Medicine, University of Oklahoma Medical Center.
