William L. Byard Sr., "Red," 75 years old, of Southington, Ohio, died Wednesday (May 30, 2007) at 9:38 p.m. at his home.


William was born April 5, 1932, in Knob Fork. He was the son of the late George E. and Irene Postlewait Byard.


He was a crane operator at the Copperweld Steel Corp. for 41 years. He was a member of AA for 21 years, enjoyed playing the guitar and he also worked on cars. William attended the Braceville Christian Church.


Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Henline Byard, whom he married on Feb. 24, 1950; three daughters, Monica and Lance Haley of Southington, Ohio, Faye Moran of Warren, Ohio, and Renee and Eric Thoren of Garrettsville, Ohio; two sons, William Lee and Nancy Byard Jr. and Bradley and Carrie Byard, both of Southington; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.


Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jayne Barker.


Funeral services will be held at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, 533 North Park Ave., Warren, Ohio, on Tuesday, June 5, at 11 a.m. where family and friends may visit from 6-8 p.m., Monday, June 4. Jon Pratt will conduct the services.


Interment will be at Southington Graham Cemetery.


The family requests that memorial contributions be made to: Hospice of the Valley, 5109 Market St., Youngstown, Ohio 44512-2198 or to the Southington Fire Department, Inc., P.O. Box 187, Southington, Ohio 44470.
