Pastor Paul Childers, 89, of Las Vegas, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2004. He was born Sept. 15, 1914, in Harold, Iowa, and was a resident of Las Vegas for 42 years. In his career, Pastor Paul was a credentialed minister of the Assemblies of God for 65 years and ordained for 60 years. In the course of his ministry he pioneered or pastored in eight churches. In Las Vegas, he was the founding pastor of Mt. View Assembly of God, an associate pastor of Trinity Life Center and for the last 18 years the senior associate pastor of Spring Valley Assembly of God. Pastor Paul was preceded in death by his 2nd son, Paul Steven, born in 1946 and went to be with the Lord at 14 months. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 wonderful years, Ferle Childers; son, Pastor John Mark (Yvonne) Childers of Las Vegas and New Zealand, James Childers of Las Vegas and Pastor David (Madeline) Childers of Las Vegas; sister-in-law, Estelle Childers of Riverside, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, May 30, at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 31, at Spring Valley Assembly of God, 7570 Peace Way, (702) 873-1200. Interment immediately following services at Palm Valley View Cemetery, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Jones.
