MISS CLARA AMELIA ARMSTRONG
Miss Clara Amelia Armstrong of Sharon Towers Charlotte, formerly of Belmont NC, died Saturday November 19, 1983 in Presbyterian Hospital. She was born August 14, 1898 in Belmont NC - daughter of the late J W and Irene Hunter Armstrong and granddaughter of the late J Matthew and Clarissa Armstrong and the late Dr James B and Amelia Lawrence Hunter. Miss Armstrong is survived by one brother John B Armstrong of Gastonia NC, five sisters Mrs. Charles Reins and Mrs. J Bart Hall both of Charlotte, Mrs. R C Horne of Asheville NC, Mrs. Leslie T West and Mrs. M R Patrick both of Belmont NC and a number of nieces nephews and cousins. Miss Armstrong was educated at Women's College in Greensboro NC. Her first position was with Mr. J H Separk of Gastonia NC. She later became Secretary to Mr. R L Stowe Sr and Mr. R L Stowe Jr where she remained for 55 years. Miss Armstrong always took an active interest in her church and community. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Belmont NC until she moved to Sharon Towers in Charlotte upon her retirement at which time she joined the First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte. Miss Armstrong was a member of the William Gaston Chapter of the DAR in Gastonia NC. Funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Belmont on Monday, November 21 at 11 AM with the Rev Leslie C Tucker the Pastor and the Rev Maynard Fountain Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte officiating.
