In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 10 siblings; one son, Larry Ambrose; one granddaughter, Robin Shanholtz; and one grandson, Anthony (Tony) Shanholtz. She was the last of her immediate family.
Olive was one of 11 children born to the late Preston and Bessie Bohrer Unger, Oakland, Md.
She grew up in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., where she met and married Bernard Ambrose in March 1939.
Following the death of her husband she made her home in Waynesboro, Pa., for four years until she moved to Richmond, Va., in September 2003, where she made her home with her daughter.
During her career she held several positions including waitress, factory worker and food service vendor.
She received Christ early in life and depended on her faith to see her through difficult times. Most recently she was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Richmond, where she enjoyed attending services prior to her illness.
She is survived by two loving daughters, Iris Jean Taylor, Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., and Linda Jones (Ronald) of Richmond, Va., and a caring daughter-in-law, Terry Ambrose, Marion, Pa. Survivors also include nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; her devoted caregiver, Denise Carter of Richmond, Va.; and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be missed by all that loved her.
Her remains will rest at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Springs Road, Chambersburg, Pa. There will be no viewing. Friends and family are invited to attend graveside services on May 19, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Parklawns Memorial Garden, in Chambersburg, Pa.
Arrangements were handled by March Funeral Home, Richmond, Va., and Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, Pa.
