Beloved Josephine was called home to the Kingdom of Heaven to enjoy eternal life on April 11, 2012. "Jo" was born on May 1, 1920 in Lansing to John and Cecelia Duffy, and was the youngest of their 10 children. As a young woman, she was a salesperson at Maurice's Distinctive Women's Apparel in Lansing. As a devoted mother and homemaker, Josephine enjoyed cooking, baking, and growing beautiful flower gardens. She was very proud of her Irish heritage. Josephine was a woman of deep faith and a devout Catholic. During her lifetime, Jo was an active member of Holy Cross Church, and a founding and charter member of St. Gerard Catholic Church where she was a member of the St. Gerard Women's Guild and the Mother of Divine Grace Circle. She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings. Josephine was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children, Michael and Jeannie Marie; three grandchildren; and loyal companion, her dog, Rosie. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow, Lansing, with Fr. Pieter van Rooyen as celebrant. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM prior to the service on Tuesday. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lansing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Gerard Church, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Masses may also be given in her memory.
