Civil War officer Robert S. Seabury, 26, was fatally wounded at the Battle of the Wilderness on May 6, 1864 and died the following day, May 7. The inscription on his marble monument, designed by a Philadelphia artisan, cites his fidelity to the Union cause: "Faithful unto Death".
